The Hand-Drawn Raindrop Paradox
A rapid whiteboard physics explainer turns raindrop formation into a visual math paradox and a follow-up question.
Field notes / why it works
The ordinary raindrop setup becomes an impossible-sounding claim by about 0:10, creating a clear question. Drawings change with the reasoning at 37.4 picture changes per minute, while the physical fortune-slip and ruler insert at 1:03–1:05 makes an abstract energy scale concrete and coincides with the strongest replay peak. A red crossed-out droplet at 1:53 delivers the visual payoff before the 2:00 reality check opens a follow-up.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A quick, low-register narrator makes a familiar thing seem impossible, then draws a physical model that explains the contradiction. A visible hand, marker lines, and a single real-world prop turn abstract math into an unfolding argument; the final answer is deliberately left for a related follow-up.
Why it works
- The impossible claim arrives around 0:10 after the familiar raindrop setup; the viewer now has a question that the drawings must resolve.
- The hand makes each concept arrive exactly as it is narrated: surface tension at 0:27–0:34, energy at 0:42–0:53, and a radius comparison at 1:07–1:21.
- A tactile fortune slip and ruler appear at 1:03–1:05, the highest replay window, giving an otherwise invisible energy scale a physical reference.
