The Stepback, Explained by Search
A sports question moves from live play to a search answer and an overlaid motion explanation in 15 seconds.
Field notes / why it works
The opening play carries an oversized question for nearly five seconds before the first measured cut at 0:05.1. A search answer appears around 0:05.7, and a tracked simulator over a second play at 0:09.3–0:11.3 makes the explanation visible; the 0:10.6 replay peak falls inside that demonstration.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A 15-second landscape sports ad opens on a live play while a giant question grows across it. The film then shows a search answer and places a simple explanatory overlay over a second play, making the product feel like the route from curiosity to understanding. The final 1.3 seconds are a logo lockup.
Why it works
- The opening question becomes legible while the play is already moving (0:00–0:03); no introductory card delays the action.
- A real search interface appears at 0:05.7, turning the promised answer into visible product proof before the midpoint.
- The same idea is visualized over live action at 0:09.3–0:11.3, then the outcome plays through at 0:11.7–0:12.4. The 0:10.6 replay peak falls in this sequence.
