The Archival Manifesto
A monochrome brand manifesto that builds from a silent portrait into a fast human montage and a long, spare slogan hold.
Field notes / why it works
A poster-like opening holds its image for about five seconds and delays speech until 0:07.3, giving the central belief room to register. Twenty-five measured cuts then align different human faces and actions with the manifesto, accelerating to five cuts from 0:30–0:35 before a 17.4-second final sequence settles on the slogan.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A quiet, monochrome brand manifesto salutes a class of people before revealing what the brand believes about them. A low, measured voice begins only after a visual overture; archival human portraits and actions become progressively quicker, then the film resolves to a sparse slogan card.
Why it works
- The first 7.3 seconds create space for the portrait, fruit prop, logo, and two-word slogan before a voice competes with them; the first detected cut is at 10.0 seconds.
- The montage links each human type or claim to a face or action: the list of outsiders at 0:10–0:21, a challenge to convention at 0:21–0:27, and changed outcomes at 0:33–0:50.
- Pace rises from zero cuts in the first ten seconds to five cuts between 0:30 and 0:35, then falls into a 17.4-second closing sequence ending on a near-empty black card.

| Pace | 26 measured shots, 25 cuts; 21.5–26.6 possible cuts/min with uncertain changes; 24 measured picture changes/min; mean shot 2.69 s, median 1.8 s |
| Script | 101 spoken words; 121 wpm across the film, about 156 wpm while talking; seven measured sentences, no questions |
| Voice | Low-register, composed adult narrator; solemn but admiring, with moderate pitch movement |
| On screen | Opening graphic/portrait for ~5 s; overwhelmingly monochrome archival human footage through ~58 s; sparse text ending for ~11 s |
| Captions | None during speech; small serif slogan only in opening graphic and final card |
| Sound | Continuous music-like bed according to measurement; restrained and cinematic (mood inferred); no clear designed cut effects; −21.5 LUFS integrated, −2.5 dBFS true peak |
