Why Wavy Windows Look Clear from Inside
A hand-drawn science explainer turns a distorted building reflection into a two-path light puzzle, then proves the answer with real footage.
Field notes / why it works
The first question points to visible distortion by 0:04, and the 0:10–0:22 inside/outside contrast creates a precise open loop. Ninety-nine short shots and 30 in-shot changes advance the whiteboard argument, while the most-replayed moment at 1:07.7–1:09.7 shows the key ray-path result. The laptop and window demonstrations around 2:04–2:25 return the abstract explanation to everyday evidence.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
Open on a familiar object doing something odd, turn the observation into a precise question, then build a fast, hand-drawn explanation. Contrast two paths through the same situation, quantify the difference, return to real footage, and finish with a practical test and a short sponsor or next-step bridge.
Why it works
- The opening asks about a visible anomaly by 0:04 while showing architectural glass; the viewer can judge the question before the theory begins.
- A long open loop runs from the inside/outside puzzle at 0:10–0:22 to the two-path explanation at 1:32–2:25. The diagrams keep the same simple objects while the geometry changes.
- The biggest replay peak, 1:07.7–1:09.7, lands on the drawn light-ray outcome: its direction is restored but its position shifts. The answer is shown as a line, not left as narration.

| Pace | 99 detected shots; 98 cuts, or 28.7–30.4 cuts/min with uncertain changes; 30 in-shot steps; about 37.5 picture changes/min; mean shot 2.07 s, median 1.08 s |
| Script | 837 measured words · 247 wpm overall, 276 wpm while speaking · 41 sentences averaging 20.4 words · 3 questions |
| Voice | Low-register, quick, animated and conversational narrator; curious rather than theatrical |
| On screen | Roughly three-quarters overhead whiteboard/doodle work, one-quarter observed footage, demos and end promotion (visual estimate from sheets and shot spans) |
| Captions | No full-sentence subtitles. Hand-lettered terms, short labels, equations and arrows appear where needed. |
| Sound | Narration almost continuous; persistent tonal bed detected, exact instrumentation unclear; no clear recurring cut SFX; −11.8 LUFS integrated, +0.6 dBFS measured true peak |
| Structure | Observation → paradox → rule → correction → exception → reflection contrast → number/demo → practical answer → sponsor bridge; core explanation ends about 2:57, promotion starts about 2:58 |
