Field notes / why it works

A black-to-stage reveal makes the eight unusual objects readable by 0:01, then the 0:02.6 keyboard close-up proves they can be controlled; the strongest replay peak sits at 0:03.4–0:03.9. A second hands-on view at 0:25.1 leads into five slow member portraits from 0:28 to 0:48, making the evolving choir sound feel connected to physical performers. The restrained end card appears only after the ensemble returns at 0:48.4.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

An ensemble of unusual physical objects is revealed like performers on a minimalist stage. A brief hands-on demonstration establishes that an instrument controls them; slow close-ups then let the audience watch and hear the result. The promise is sensory: see the objects, see the control, hear the response.

Why it works

  • The 0:00–0:01 reveal turns black into a full, symmetric ensemble before any explanation; the first picture change is at 0.65 s.
  • At 0:02.6 the keyboard close-up proves the control mechanism, and the 0:03.4–0:03.9 replay peak lands on it.
  • The 0:25.1 overhead performance pivots into individual portraits from 0:28–0:48, so the sound has visible “performers.” A top comment singles out the chord progression and synthetic choir sound.
