Field notes / why it works

The opening claim and draining Earth icon make the premise legible before the first cut at 1.83 seconds. Fourteen illustrated shots escalate from a 2030 forecast to aquifer decline and human impact, then the turn at 0:36 leads through solutions to a cost comparison at 0:50–1:09 and an accessible weekly-price close at 1:13.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A narrator announces an alarming, seemingly impossible problem over a single oversized headline and symbolic illustration. A chain of colorful animated metaphors turns the scale into numbers, consequences, then a practical solution and a surprisingly small personal cost. The final image leaves the viewer with agency rather than doom.

Why it works

  • At 0:00 the large claim and Earth-as-faucet icon explain the premise before the first cut at 1.83 seconds; the water stream then lengthens during the hook.
  • By 0:31, the video has moved from a forecast to shrinking aquifers, drought-affected people, city stress, and human consequences, each with a distinct illustration rather than a string of statistics.
  • The turn at 0:36 opens a solution loop; at 0:50–1:09 the cost, return, and cost-of-inaction figures answer it. The 1:13–1:18 close reduces a global problem to a weekly personal price.
