Field notes / why it works

A stark future claim is readable and spoken by 0:03 while the empty blue opening blooms into a warm illustrated collage without a cut. At 0:43–0:49, successive icon groups turn an abstract rate into 100 → 36 → 13 → 5; age pyramids at 0:49–0:57 then reveal its wider shape. The edit uses 8 shots but 9 internal graphic steps, so each new number gets a visual change without frantic cutting.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A low-register narrator makes a stark, dated claim over a plain title, while a miniature illustrated world grows behind it. The video then converts an abstract demographic rate into a timeline, people icons, and an age pyramid before inviting viewers to a longer explanation.

Why it works

  • The premise is legible in both sound and large title by 0:03; a blue field becomes a warm burst of cultural icons within the same opening shot.
  • At 0:39–0:49, a rate becomes three successive groups of 100, 36 and 13 people; the graphic changes with each spoken number.
  • At 0:49–0:57, mirrored age pyramids give the consequence a shape after the arithmetic. The full-video invitation waits until 0:59.
