The Virus That Eats Bacteria
A vivid 52-second bacteriophage explainer turns an alarming hook into a selective-treatment lesson and a playful, disclosed product coda.
Field notes / why it works
By 0:02, the huge staggered claim and converging arrows turn a single bright character into a clear mystery. The reassurance at 0:18.8 flips the apparent threat, while the game-style comparison and scan around 0:30–0:38 make selective targeting understandable. A strong palette and material change at 0:42–0:45 signals the playful, explicitly labelled advertisement.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A vivid animated creature fills the frame while a low, quick narrator opens with a frightening superlative. The film explains its mechanism as a miniature action sequence, overturns the implied danger at 0:18.8, connects the science to human stakes, then turns into an explicitly labelled playful product message at 0:42.3–0:45.5.
Why it works
- The claim lands by 0:02, with a red faceted figure perched on Earth; the visual subject is legible before the explanation starts.
- The reversal at 0:18.8 resolves the fear: human cells are safe, because the target is bacteria. The same character changes from menace to helper without changing the topic.
- Around 0:30–0:38, a game-like comparison and scanning reticle make selectivity visible; around 0:45, the branded plush reveal changes both texture and tone. The sales turn has an on-screen “Advertisement” badge.
