Field notes / why it works

The opening starts mid-interface action and makes its first change at 0.57 seconds. Fifteen shots in 15.3 seconds alternate detailed UI with spare title cards, dark graphic resets and one human insert at 11.3 seconds, making the portfolio feel varied but readable. The final 14.1-second shot returns to a clear product action.

01

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A 16:9, music-led portfolio reel makes a case through rapid visual proof. It opens inside a working interface, then cycles through polished titles, UI interactions, claim cards, a human insert and a final product action. There is no spoken explanation; the viewer infers capability from the density and variety of the work.

Why it works

  • The first half-second starts mid-action on a network selector; there is no logo or setup to wait through.
  • Fifteen shots in 15.3 seconds (55 measured cuts/min) sustain variety, while short text cards at 2.8, 5.4, 7.7 and 12.6 seconds provide reading anchors.
  • The montage alternates interface detail, abstract 3D, typography and one human clip, so each return to UI feels fresh.

Pace15 measured shots · 55.0 cuts/min; up to 62.8 if two uncertain changes at 1.4 and 1.8 s are cuts · mean shot 1.02 s, median 0.87 s
ScriptNo spoken script. A few short, self-contained phrases on screen; product interface labels carry the rest.
VoiceNo intelligible speaking. Automated transcription reads the music as repeated syllables, so its 122-word/480-wpm figures are unusable as speech measurements.
On screenApproximately 40% product UI, 25% kinetic typography/claim cards, 25% abstract graphics, 10% human footage (estimated from shot centres).
CaptionsNo subtitles; use editorial title cards and native-looking UI labels.
SoundLoud, continuous tonal music with vocal-like rhythmic syllables (inferred); −6.4 LUFS measured, +1.2 dBFS measured true peak.
StructureUI curiosity → visual range → capability claims → human proof → final action; no in-video CTA.

0.00–0.50Tight crop of a white web app card over a black-to-mint gradient; pointer at an open dropdown.Network; Image; crypto network names.Music starts immediately; no clear speech.In-medias-res interface action invites the viewer to decode the product.
0.50–0.75Dropdown gains more options as the crop pulls wider.More network choices appear.Continuous beat.First measured cut/change at 0.567 s.
0.75–1.25Abrupt white editorial layout with tiny portrait tiles distributed around a centre headline.A brief claim about a leading influencer.Music continues.Strong light/colour reset creates the first pattern interrupt.
1.25–1.75Same sparse layout, with the portrait constellation more populated.Headline remains central.Music continues.Lets the viewer register the composition before the next texture.
1.75–2.25Warm orange textured product prompt card.A typed app idea and small feature chips.Music continues.Changes from social proof to making something; changes around 1.4 and 1.8 s are uncertain in the measurement.
2.25–3.00Black globe grid and white editorial title.Short AI-agent claim.Music continues.Uses a dark reset to make a new client/idea feel like a reveal.

Hook formula: In medias res plus visual pattern interrupt: Open on {{PRODUCT_ACTION}} in a real-looking UI; by 0:01 replace it with {{PROOF_OR_AUDIENCE_CLAIM}}; by 0:03 reveal {{BIGGER_PROMISE}}. Why it holds: The opener is specific but initially unexplained. Two high-contrast changes before 3 seconds widen the implied scope without spending time on narration.

05

Plate 05 / Shot grammar

Mix: Estimated from shot-centre frames: 6 interface or product-process views, 4 typographic cards, 3 abstract/composited scenes, 1 human footage insert and 1 dense campaign collage. These are rough visual categories because several frames combine UI and graphics.

Rhythm: Median shot is 0.87 s; the longest is 2.07 s. Nine cuts occur in the first 10 seconds. Most transitions are hard cuts between unlike backgrounds, with movement inside frames supplying continuity. Two apparent changes around 1.4 and 1.8 s remain uncertain.

Rules this editor follows (inferred from the shot list):

  • Start and finish on a concrete user action so the reel is grounded in product use.
  • Follow dense UI with a simple claim or abstract frame before showing more detail.
  • Make each shot legible through one focal object: dropdown, headline, prompt, globe, status, portrait, number or button.
  • Reserve one human insert late in the sequence to add scale and texture.

Plate 06 / Visual style guide

  • Look: A curated clash of launch treatments: near-black #0A0B0B, paper white #F9F8F4, pale mint #D9FFE0, acid/forest green #16AD76/#294B21, amber #D79A42, and one blue glow #113872. Individual products can have distinct palettes, but recurring white space, near-black resets and soft gradient light bind them.
  • Titles: Mix editorial serif (closest free match Cormorant Garamond Italic, 42–70 px at 1280×720) with clean sans (closest free match Inter, Regular to Semibold, 32–54 px). The oversized all-caps merge card uses Inter Bold around 60–80 px. Text is usually central, with a few spacious off-centre arrangements.
  • UI text: Inter 12–22 px at the same canvas size; white cards with 12–20 px corner radii, soft shadows, compact chips, thin icons and visible cursor. Keep small UI mostly illustrative; make one action readable per frame.
  • Captions: None. The phrases are graphic headlines, 1–5 words at a time, and there is no word-by-word subtitle treatment.
  • Graphics and overlays: Wireframe globe, soft glow, particulate/pixel squares, tiny portrait cards, floating discs. Let graphics orbit, scale or drift gently while the cut delivers the main acceleration (motion direction inferred from stills).
  • B-roll: One vertical human clip appears around 11.3–12.2 s. Use original or licensed footage of a generic operator/creator; feature callouts sit beside it.
  • Transitions: Primarily hard cuts; alternate bright and dark scenes. Avoid relying on transition effects. Two fast changes inside the long second shot are uncertain.
  • Branding: Multiple client/product treatments; there is no single reel logo or end card. In your version, use your own marks and show enough consistency that it reads as one portfolio.
07

Plate 07 / Voice and delivery

Measured: No reliable intelligible speech. The automated transcription labels repeated da syllables as words and reports 480 wpm overall, but the frames and transcript indicate music/vocalisation rather than a spoken script. Its 78 Hz median pitch and pause statistics should not be used to direct a narrator.

Direction: Build this version without narration. If a person appears in footage, their mouth does not need to carry the story; product actions and title cards do.

08

Plate 08 / Sound design

  • Music: Continuous, loud tonal/rhythmic track with repeated vocal-like syllables (inferred from transcript and sound measurements); there is no measured quiet under a narrator. Choose an original or licensed driving electronic cue with distinct beats for hard cuts.
  • Sound effects: Individual whooshes, clicks or impacts are not established by the supplied facts. Add subtle UI clicks only where a cursor action is visible, if they survive the music mix.
  • Silence and space: No confirmed silence; the near-black frame near 6.8 s is a visual rest.
  • Mix targets: Reference measured −6.4 LUFS integrated and +1.2 dBFS true peak. For a new export, limit true peak to at most −1 dBFS; avoid reproducing the reference's measured overs.
09

Plate 09 / Packaging

  • Title formula: {{CLAIM_ABOUT_CRAFT}} + {{WHO_THE_WORK_IS_FOR}}. The original post sells launch-video production to AI startups and puts its booking pitch in the caption, not in the video.
  • Cover / thumbnail: Close crop of a real-looking dropdown over a black-to-mint gradient, white rounded panel in the upper right, cursor visible. It contains no face or giant marketing headline.
  • Description: Short contrarian craft claim, audience qualifier, quantified proof claim and a booking link. Treat the performance claim as the poster's statement, not a verified result of this video.
  • Audience signals: 120 views, 2 likes, 1 comment and 1 repost at capture. No most-replayed data or comment text is supplied, so the reception cannot establish which beat performed best.

Plate 12 / Prompts

Script prompt (paste into an assistant with this file):

Write a text-only storyboard for a new 15-second, 16:9 product portfolio montage about {{PRODUCT}} for {{AUDIENCE}}. Follow the five beat windows in this blueprint. Give 15 shots with start time, duration, one visual action, and at most five words of legible headline text. Use verified numbers from {{PROOF_POINTS}} only. Begin inside a product action and finish on a different user action. Alternate light/dark and UI/typography/abstract/human shots. No voiceover, invented customer claims, copied brand names, or borrowed footage.

Voice prompt: No narrator. Let visual text and music carry the story.

Visual prompts:

  • UI close-up: 1280x720 original {{PRODUCT}} interface, tight crop on {{ACTION}}, rounded white card, visible cursor, pale mint glow fading into near-black, crisp Inter labels, no borrowed logos.
  • Editorial claim: Minimal paper-white 16:9 frame, one short {{BENEFIT}} phrase in Cormorant Garamond Italic paired with Inter, generous negative space, subtle motion.
  • Abstract reset: Near-black 16:9 field, simple wireframe or particle system expressing {{CAPABILITY}}, subtle depth and slow orbit, clean centre for a short title.
  • Human proof: Licensed/original vertical medium shot of a generic maker working with {{PRODUCT}}, no recognisable public figure, small feature chips beside the frame.

Caption spec: No subtitles. Title cards use 1–5 words, Inter/Cormorant Garamond, white/black according to background, and a short scale or fade entrance; UI labels remain natural to the interface.

Music prompt: Driving electronic cue, roughly one accent every 0.5–1.0 s, steady energy for 15 s, tonal hook and light rhythmic vocal texture without intelligible words; license or compose it for the new work.

13

Plate 13 / Edit recipe

  1. Select 15 source moments: six product/process views, four claim/brand cards, three abstract composites, one human insert and one output collage. Replace categories if the product needs it, while keeping their contrast.
  2. Lay out the five beat windows above at 1280×720, 30 fps. Use the reference shot durations as a guide: 0.57, 1.80, 0.80, 2.07, 0.43, 0.77, 0.83, 0.87, 0.83, 1.43, 0.93, 0.87, 0.80, 1.10 and 1.18 s. Trim the final few frames to reach 15.3 s.
  3. Make the first cursor action visible on frame one. Put the first hard cut around 0.57 s.
  4. Alternate bright paper/gradient frames with near-black frames. Keep one focal object per shot and one readable phrase or number at most.
  5. Animate UI actions and internal layers lightly; use hard cuts for the big energy changes. Sync the major visual resets to the music.
  6. Mix the music, add only justified interface sounds, and export H.264 MP4 at 1280×720/30 fps with a safe true peak.
14

Plate 14 / QA checklist

  • Frame one shows a concrete {{PRODUCT_ACTION}}; the first visible change lands by 0.6 s.
  • The sequence contains about 15 shots over 14–17 s, with a median hold near 0.9 s and no accidental blank frames.
  • Each dense UI view is followed soon by a simpler frame; the longest hold stays near 2 s.
  • On-screen claims are legible at phone size, and each number is substantiated.
  • There is no unintended dialogue or unusable auto-captioning from vocal-like music.
  • Music and cuts feel synchronized, and export true peak is at most −1 dBFS.
  • The final frame shows a specific action or result instead of lingering on a mark.
15

Plate 15 / Make it yours

  • The creator's signature (don't copy): Specific client brands, names, UI screens, portfolio claims, source music, footage and exact wording.
  • The transferable format: Start mid-interaction, combine multiple launch styles in a rapid five-beat arc, alternate density and negative space, place short claims between proof shots, and end on an action.
  • Use original or licensed footage, graphics and music. Build the examples around {{PRODUCT}}, {{TOPIC}} and verified {{PROOF_POINTS}}.

Create a new 15.3-second, 1280x720, 30 fps portfolio montage for {{PRODUCT}} about {{TOPIC}}, using Remotion and original assets only. Make 15 shots at approximately 0.0, 0.57, 2.37, 3.17, 5.24, 5.67, 6.44, 7.27, 8.14, 8.97, 10.40, 11.33, 12.20, 13.00 and 14.10 seconds. Start on a close-up cursor action in {{PRODUCT}} rather than a title. By 2.4 seconds, show an audience or proof constellation and a typed {{INPUT_PROMPT}}. From 2.4 to 5.7 seconds, use a near-black abstract capability title, a light process UI, then an oversized outcome phrase. From 5.7 to 9 seconds, show a second input, a brief dark visual rest, a customer pain card and a substantiated {{VERIFIED_NUMBER}}. At 9 to 11.3 seconds, use a simple wordmark and a short benefit. Finish with licensed or original human footage, a green pixel claim, an output collage and a final {{UI_ACTION}}. Alternate paper white, near-black, mint/forest green and one warm amber or blue accent. Use Inter for crisp interface type and Cormorant Garamond Italic for sparse editorial titles; keep headlines to five words or fewer. Use hard cuts on accents of an original/licensed driving electronic track, subtle cursor sounds, no narrator or subtitles. Export H.264 MP4 and cap true peak at -1 dBFS.
