Tesseract's Retro Desktop Conversion Reveal
A file-conversion launch film that moves from a retro desktop failure to a long, abstract horse and particle showcase.
Field notes / why it works
A dragged file and an unsupported-file warning by 0:03 make the problem visible before the product claim. The cursor-led conversion gives way to one horse motif in many render styles from 0:23–1:08, while six quick cuts around 0:56–0:59 create a late energy spike before a held CRT brand reveal.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A retro computer desktop makes a file compatibility problem legible, then a cursor action appears to solve it. The film leaves the interface and turns the output into a long, abstract motion showcase before ending on a brand card. The promise is visual at 0:00–0:03: a file is being dragged between creative tools; the fuller product claim arrives through the conversion UI around 0:05–0:15.
Why it works
- The opening uses three recognizable app destinations and a dragged file at 0:00, making the interoperability problem understandable before any explanation.
- The on screen conversion sequence around 0:05–0:15 supplies proof, then the horse studies from 0:23–1:08 turn a technical feature into a memorable visual payoff.
- The edit changes pace: only one cut in the first ten seconds, then six rapid cuts around 0:56–0:59, followed by a five second CRT brand reveal at 1:12.

| Pace | 17 detected shots; 16 cuts, 12.3 cuts/min; up to 15.4 cuts/min including four uncertain changes; 20 clear picture changes, 15.4/min; mean shot 4.58 s, median 2.57 s |
| Script | Primarily interface labels and typed commands. Automated speech detection returned 17 implausible words unrelated to the frames; no reliable narration to model. |
| Voice | No confirmed narrator or speaking person. Let the image and music carry the story. |
| On screen | About 25% retro desktop/conversion UI, 65% designed horse and particle imagery, 10% CRT/end card (inferred from shot timings). No presenter. |
| Captions | No dialogue captions. Small monospaced file labels, system warnings, command text, and a few giant display words. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal, music-like bed; estimated 121 BPM in the last 30 s; measured −15.2 LUFS integrated and −1.9 dBFS true peak. No clear recurring cut effect. |
| Structure | Desktop problem → conversion action → generated/editable output → visual range → fast particle crescendo → CRT logo. No spoken CTA. |
