A House Built Through Five Interactive Layers

A 36-second 3D screen capture scrubs from a finished house to its foundation, then rebuilds it through an X-ray systems reveal.

Field notes / why it works

The finished house at 0:00 is stripped to its foundation within about a second, making the rebuild the central question. A persistent five-stage rail guides the 36.6-second traversal, while the dark, translucent systems view at 0:16–0:23 renews attention before the warm finished payoff at 0:31–0:36.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A wide screen recording shows a polished 3D result in frame one, rapidly resets to its first construction stage, and advances through five selectable states. A persistent stage timeline, mode buttons, and anchored callouts make the recording feel like a working interactive exhibit rather than a conventional animation.

Why it works

  • The completed house at 0:00 previews the payoff; by about 0:01 it has been stripped to the foundation, creating a clear before/after question without speech.
  • The bottom five-stage progress rail stays visible throughout the 36.6 seconds, so viewers can follow the journey even during long camera moves.
  • The translucent systems reveal at 0:16–0:23 changes the visual grammar from pale architectural model to dark X-ray view; the warm finished view returns at 0:31–0:36.
