Automations in Perplexity Computer
A silent product launch film turns two automation modes into cinematic, step-by-step UI proofs.
Field notes / why it works
The opening spends about three seconds on a tiny assembling logo before revealing the feature claim, making a sparse frame feel active. The first workflow (0:08–0:41) shows a trigger, notification, execution steps, and result; the scheduled workflow restarts attention at 0:42 and reaches metrics and creative drafts by 1:20. Fifty-six internal changes sustain motion across 92 seconds without a detected hard cut or spoken narration.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A silent, cinematic launch film introduces a new automation feature by moving from a one-line promise into two concrete workflows: an event triggers a sales-risk response, then a schedule triggers a performance report. An abstract blue environment holds small, dark product UI cards while large editorial title cards reset attention.
Why it works
- It withholds the feature claim until roughly 0:03, using a tiny animated logo and moving light to draw the eye first.
- At 0:08–0:40, the event-based example progresses from a typed condition to a Slack alert, an execution trace, and a report; the promise gets visible proof.
- At 0:42, a new schedule headline restarts the story. The second workflow reaches an 8:00 AM run, metrics, and drafted creatives by 1:15 before the rapid closing recap.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9 · 1280×720 · 59.94 fps · 92.1 s |
| Pace | One continuous composited scene, no detected hard cuts; 56 internal picture changes, 36.5 changes/min; average interval about 1.6 s. Several cards hold 3–5 s. |
| Script | No spoken script. A handful of short headline cards plus small, realistic UI copy. Measured transcript contains only probable music-recognition artifacts. |
| Voice | None; no presenter or narrator. |
| On screen | Full-time motion graphics: atmospheric background, product UI mockups, process diagrams, and editorial type. No live-action people. |
| Captions | No speech captions. Centered serif headline cards and compact sans-serif UI labels. |
| Sound | Continuous cinematic electronic/ambient bed, roughly 99 BPM; −14.1 LUFS integrated, −3.3 dBFS true peak. |
| Structure | Logo/promise → conditional-trigger workflow → schedule workflow → three-use-case recap → logo. No explicit spoken CTA. |
