Motion from a toggle
A silent 15-second motion study turns a UI switch into kinetic type, abstract shapes, and a concise AI design claim.
Field notes / why it works
The oversized switch and cropped letter at 0:00 create a puzzle that resolves into a readable UI label by 1.0 seconds and a bold keyword by 1.75 seconds. Three rapid shape cards from 5.6 to 7.0 seconds demonstrate visual range before a short proof line becomes legible around 12.4 seconds; the clip fits that arc into 15 seconds without voiceover.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A silent, widescreen motion study turns a familiar interface switch into a bold typographic idea, then proves creative range through several abstract compositions. The first frame is deliberately incomplete: a cropped letter and an oversized orange toggle invite the viewer to wait for the reveal. A short proof card near 12.4 seconds reframes the visual display as a claim about the tool.
Why it works
- The opening creates a small visual puzzle: at 0:00 only a cropped “n” and a huge switch are legible; by 1.0 seconds the “Reduce Motion” label gives the control a meaning.
- The label itself becomes the animation: letters bend and leave “Motion” centred by about 1.75 seconds, with an orange dot continuing to move through 2.75 seconds. The idea is understood without narration.
- The 5.6–9.4 second shape and type sequence shows range, while the 12.4-second proof card states the claim in one glance. There are five cuts in the 5–10 second interval.
