A tennis hunch becomes a portfolio
A cinematic launch film follows one observer's tennis thesis from street-level clues to a generated investment portfolio.
Field notes / why it works
The 1.9-second storefront hold and close-up make a private hunch feel grounded before the product appears. A nearly wordless run from about 0:10 to 0:30 stacks physical tennis clues, then the edit accelerates to eight cuts in 0:35–0:40 as the idea expands into a value chain. A readable portfolio screen at 0:42–0:48 pays off the premise before a six-second brand hold.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A thoughtful protagonist notices a change in the real world, follows the evidence, and uses a phone to act on the idea. The product explanation is embedded in a miniature film: a concrete place, an unusual hunch, a fast montage of consequences, then a restrained UI reveal.
Why it works
- The first 1.9 s is a legible wide shot of a sports shop with a lone figure; the quiet line begins only at 1.7 s. The viewer must look before getting an explanation.
- The 0:10–0:30 stretch lets the tennis idea accumulate through rackets, players, courts, and a bus advertisement, with a 9.84 s speech gap after 0:10.2. The images carry the argument.
- The claim turns into an action at 0:30–0:42: a typed take, a value-chain graphic, and an ownership screen. The film answers its own opening question through the interface.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9, 1280×720 · 60.0 s at 24 fps |
| Pace | 45 shots, 44 definite cuts; 44–49 cuts/min allowing uncertain changes; 47 definite picture changes/min; mean shot 1.33 s, median 1.12 s |
| Script | 68 measured spoken words; 83 wpm across the whole film, roughly 225 wpm during speech; sparse, fragmentary lines with long visual gaps |
| Voice | Low-register adult masculine voice archetype; intimate, curious, occasionally amused; 3.9 semitone pitch movement (measured) |
| On screen | Roughly 65% live-action street, store, and tennis footage; 25% phone/product or supporting graphics; 10% brand card and transitional imagery (estimated from shots) |
| Captions | No burned spoken-word captions; text belongs to props, ads, the app UI, a large typed thought, and the end card |
| Sound | Continuous tonal, cinematic bed (music-like heuristic), about 12 dB below voice; no clearly verified per-cut SFX; −13.8 LUFS integrated measured |
| Structure | Five movements: hunch → observation → thesis → value chain → product action; UI payoff at 0:30–0:48, brand at 0:52.9 |
