3D Graphics History in One Teapot
A 15-second vertical timeline holds one teapot in place while seven rendering eras change around it.
Field notes / why it works
The opening wireframe becomes a complete, recognizable object by 0.5 seconds, while the headline promises a 60-year journey. Six internal visual changes move the same object through seven dated treatments in 15 seconds; the fixed camera and advancing timeline make each leap easy to compare. The longest hold, 7.4–11.8 seconds, gives the detailed lighting stage room to register before the final representation changes the look again.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A single centered object travels through a chronological series of visual techniques. A fixed title and bottom information panel explain each version; the object itself proves the difference. The promise is visible at 0:00 in the Japanese headline, which says the viewer will see 60 years of 3D graphics evolution.
Why it works
- The luminous green mesh starts incomplete at 0:00 and visibly becomes a full teapot by 0:50, creating a micro-reveal before the first era change.
- The camera and object position stay stable while the treatment changes at 1.4, 2.8, 4.4, 5.8, 7.4, and 11.8 seconds; comparison takes almost no mental effort.
- A dated dot advances along the persistent timeline at each stage, so seven technical concepts remain legible in 15 seconds, even without narration.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 9:16 · 15.02 s · 720 × 1280 at 30 fps |
| Pace | 1 continuous shot, 0 cuts/min, 6 internal changes, 24 picture changes/min; 15.02 s average shot |
| Script | No verified spoken words, 0 spoken wpm; on-screen title, date, technique, and small source line |
| Voice | None; the automated four-word “outro music” transcript is a music caption, not speech |
| On screen | 100% computer-rendered motion graphic; fixed viewpoint and persistent title/timeline |
| Captions | No speech captions; bold white Japanese headline and era labels |
| Sound | Instrumental bed indicated by the transcript; automated tempo estimate around 80 BPM; measured −11.5 LUFS, −0.3 dBFS true peak |
| Structure | 7 dated stages; neural representation is the final reveal at 11.8 s; no in-video CTA |
