Starter prompt / by Refs

The creator shared no short prompt. This is ours for making a film like it with Claude.

Make a {N}-minute film about {HISTORICAL_EVENT} entirely in code: a WebGL renderer with real terrain for the location, sunrise light, fog and smoke, thousands of animated units in formation, and a camera that moves like a documentary. Write a short narration, synthesize the voice and a score, and render frame by frame to MP4 with ffmpeg. It should feel like a historical film, not a strategy game.

Field notes / why it works

The near-black opening reveals distant torchlines before narration starts at 0:03.9, creating a visual question. Maps from 0:56 to 2:09 teach the tactical trap before the foggy field and 2:57 sunrise make the reversal visible. Thirty internal picture changes carry the five-minute story despite only one detected hard cut, while specific losses and a corrected battlefield claim at 4:08–4:43 add credibility.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A calm documentary narrator tells a historical reversal while a coded landscape moves from darkness and fog to a decisive sunrise. Maps make the plan legible; wide battlefield tableaux turn that plan into a cinematic payoff. The promise is implicit by 0:04: a date, a place, two waiting armies, and an approaching dawn.

Why it works

  • The frame fades up from almost black during 0:00–0:03, while the first spoken scene begins at 0:03.9. That darkness gives the approaching dawn a visual destination.
  • The tactic is taught before it is shown: maps from 0:56 to 2:09 establish the bait, attack arrows, and emptying centre; battlefield imagery from 2:19 onward pays it off.
  • A long delay before the reveal (7.5-second narration pause around 2:50) makes the 2:57 sunlight, 3:04 advance, and 3:24 smoke-filled clash feel earned.
