Typeless arrives on Linux
A Linux launch film that turns shortcut cards and real desktop tasks into a calm sequence of product proofs.
Field notes / why it works
The platform announcement is legible in the first frame, then a moving character completes it by about 0:04. From roughly 0:06 to 1:14, shortcut prompts lead into visible dictation, translation, page action, and answer results; 25 internal changes sustain attention despite only four detected cuts. The black logo card at 1:14 and standalone URL at 1:18 make the destination easy to remember.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A quiet, landscape product launch opens with the brand and new platform in the first frame. It then demonstrates three ways the desktop app helps through real interface footage, each introduced by a simple shortcut card, and closes on a black logo and URL card.
Why it works
- The promise is readable immediately: the first frame says the product is available on Linux; the mascot animates into the claim by about 0:04.
- Proof occupies most of the runtime. The first demonstration starts around 0:06.5; the viewer watches words form, then sees a cleaned final message around 0:26.9.
- Each new ability refreshes attention without a frantic edit: translation begins at 0:29.7, a webpage action appears around 0:48, and the question/answer segment starts near 1:01.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Reference pattern | |
|---|---|
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9 · 1:22.8 · 1280 × 720 · 30 fps |
| Pace | 5 detected scenes, 4 cuts; 2.9–4.3 cuts/min allowing two uncertain changes; 25 internal visual steps; about 21 picture changes/min; mean scene 16.57 s, median 8.58 s |
| Script | 64 measured spoken words; 67 wpm across the full film, about 184 wpm while speaking; seven short demo utterances; no narrator |
| Voice | Adult user archetype: low register, conversational, close and matter of fact; speech is input to the app |
| On screen | Screen recordings and designed interface/brand cards; no talking head or photographic presenter |
| Captions | No conventional subtitles; product text, shortcut keys, speech bubbles, menu labels, and final URL carry the information |
| Sound | Tonal music-like bed, approximately 9.8 dB below speech; no clear effect reliably tied to cuts; −23.1 LUFS integrated, −4.0 dBFS true peak |
| Structure | Launch promise → dictation → translation → selection action → question/answer → brand/URL close |
