A Doodled Journey Through Atmospheric Circulation
A five-minute bilingual geography lesson builds hand-drawn circulation diagrams around a friendly cloud guide and a real-world climate mystery.
Field notes / why it works
A specific rainforest-versus-desert question arrives by about 0:09, and the answer lands at 3:12–3:33 after the viewer has seen the mechanism built step by step. The canvas has zero detected hard cuts, but diagrams keep changing: a thermal loop at 0:47, rotating globe at 1:13, wind belts at 2:22–2:53, and two-panel climate examples at 3:21. Bilingual subtitles, restrained red/blue arrows, and a 4:23 checklist make the dense lesson easier to follow and recall.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A friendly animated guide asks a concrete real-world question, teaches the underlying mechanism with hand-drawn diagrams, complicates the simple model, and returns to answer the opening question. A continuous cream paper canvas, colored arrows, small character, and bilingual bottom subtitles make a dense school lesson feel like a guided trip.
Why it works
- The mystery arrives by about 0:09; the lesson returns to it at 3:12 and explains the contrasting environments by 3:33.
- The abstract mechanism is built in layers: heat at 0:27, a simple circulation loop at 0:47, planetary rotation at 1:13, pressure and wind belts at 2:22–2:45.
- A diagram or label changes with each new idea even though the cut detector finds one continuous 288-second scene; the viewer can track causes spatially.

| Pace | 1 continuous scene, 0 hard cuts, 12 detected major state changes (~2.5/min); many smaller line drawings animate within the scene. |
| Script | Mandarin narration throughout; transcription counted 786 word-like units, 168/min overall and 191/min while speaking. Chinese tokenization makes these an approximate pace guide, not an English word budget. |
| Voice | Bright, animated, mid-register synthetic Mandarin guide; speech starts at 0:02.8 and covers ~97% of runtime. |
| On screen | ~100% code-drawn line art and infographics; no live-action presenter or footage. |
| Captions | Bilingual Chinese/English sentence subtitles in a small rounded off-white box along the lower edge. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal music-like bed under narration (measured); no clearly evidenced cut effects. Integrated −16.4 LUFS, true peak −1.4 dBFS. |
| Structure | Mystery → simple physical cause → ideal model → real-world complication → applied answer → regional extension → recap/goodbye. No direct CTA. |
