A nearly blank first frame lets the pen and first blot at 0:01.75 establish a clear visual question without words. Each chapter appears to be drawn on cream paper in black brush strokes; the marks themselves carry the continuity even when the setting changes. Why it works
- The first image is mostly empty paper. A pen enters by 0:00.25 and the first blot appears around 0:01.75, making a small action legible before the scene grows.
- One mark scales from page to corridor to city: the perspective corridor at 0:04.8, workbench by 0:10.9, and skyline at 0:24.0 turn the same visual motif into a sense of increasing scope.
- The 0:25.5 flare and 0:26–0:30.2 close-up burst give the silent film a clear visual climax. The source had about 373,000 measured views, though that number alone cannot establish which device caused its reach.
