Starter prompt / by Refs

The creator shared no short prompt. This is ours for making a film like it with Claude.

Tell a 30-second picture-book story about {SMALL_CREATURE} and a slice of watermelon on a hot summer day. Draw it in a warm hand-illustrated style: cream background with soft diagonal stripes, a cross-hatched sun, glossy red flesh with individually drawn seeds, and a character with expressive, springy movement. Give it a setup, a small struggle and a sweet payoff. Animate with SVG and canvas in one HTML file, compose a light plucked tune in code, and render 1080×1080 frames with headless Chrome and ffmpeg.

Field notes / why it works

The opening makes a tiny ant and a single black seed legible against a bright red watermelon before the first cut at 1.8 seconds. Seed, sprout, vine and giant melon form a clear causal escalation by 0:13; seven cuts in 0:20–0:25 drive the split-and-feast payoff, and the 0:28 return to the opening image encourages a loop.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A tiny drawn character finds a small object, commits to a simple physical action, and triggers a much larger transformation. The story unfolds without explanatory captions: a seed planted at roughly 0:02 grows into a melon by 0:13, then becomes a shared feast by 0:24.

Why it works

  • The first frame is legible in an instant: a dark ant and one black seed sit on a saturated red watermelon slice beneath a yellow sun. The seed creates a question before the first cut at 0:01.8.
  • Scale keeps changing: seed underground at 0:02.7, vine at 0:09.7, whole melon by 0:13, and a split fruit at 0:21.3. Each reveal enlarges the consequence of the ant's first move.
  • Seven cuts in 0:20–0:25 accelerate the harvest, then the film returns to the opening composition at 0:28–0:29.3. The final image makes a replay feel like the next cycle.

ScriptNo narration or substantive spoken script; one isolated “Oh” is in the automatic transcript at 0:04.2, while the measurement reports no speech detected.
VoiceNone required; character emotion is shown through body pose and timing.
On screenApproximately 100% illustrated story frames: wide tableau, side-view soil section, and close-ups. No live-action or UI.
CaptionsNone. A small handwritten brand mark appears in the lower right of the opening and cover.
SoundContinuous rhythmic bed is suggested by the audio measurements (tempo about 179 BPM, low confidence); 60% of cuts have above-usual amplitude accents. Integrated −20.4 LUFS, true peak −7.7 dBFS.
StructureFind → plant → grow → weather and wait → split → share → return; visual payoff at 0:21–0:24; no spoken CTA.
