Eight Stroke-Type Systems in Motion

A silent eight-panel typography study that erases and rebuilds thin glyphs through distinct lime line systems.

Field notes / why it works

All eight treatments appear together at 0:00, giving viewers an immediate comparison and multiple details to follow. Across one 10.1-second shot, six internal changes carry the glyphs from full density to near-empty at about 5.1 seconds and back to a readable gallery by 9.5 seconds. The fixed grid makes each transformation easy to compare without a cut.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A fixed two-column, four-row gallery compares eight ways to deform a thin stroke font. The first frame gives the full payoff; the next seconds remove the characters until only traces remain, then rebuild the gallery. The promise is visual: one glyph set can generate many distinct motion systems.

Why it works

  • At 0:00, eight simultaneous treatments invite comparison without an introduction; the viewer can choose a panel and watch its behavior.
  • One locked composition lasts 10.1 seconds with zero cuts, while six internal changes at 2.0, 4.2, 5.8, 7.0, 8.0, and 9.2 seconds create a clear transformation arc.
  • At about 5.1 seconds the type has almost vanished; by 9.5 seconds the dense glyph field is back. That disappearance makes the return legible as a payoff.
