A Swipe Through Three Profiles
A cinematic Dia feature launch uses one repeated hand gesture to connect three distinct browser contexts.
Field notes / why it works
A 2.17-second dark trackpad hold creates anticipation before the first swipe, then the benefit appears over a warm lamp around 0:06.6. The edit repeats the physical gesture between Work, Freelance, and Personal screens, making an abstract context switch concrete. Nineteen shots in 39.7 seconds include longer 3–5 second holds for readable UI proof and a clean URL close.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A quiet, cinematic feature announcement turns one physical gesture into a repeated visual metaphor. A hand swipes or moves across a glowing object; the next cut lands in a different product profile with its own task and context. The viewer gets the benefit as a six-word title around 0:06, then sees three specific examples before a bare URL ends the film.
Why it works
- The opening withholds explanation: a dark trackpad holds for 2.17 s, then a finger makes the promised gesture before any copy appears.
- The warm lamp shot and pale interface alternate through the film. Physical action at about 0:11, 0:17, 0:22 and 0:28 makes each profile switch legible without arrows or narration.
- Three use cases extend the proof: Work, Freelance, and Personal screens appear from 0:04 through 0:34, with prompts or generated answers specific to each.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 4:3 landscape · 960×720 · 39.7 s · 30 fps |
| Pace | 19 measured shots; 18 cuts, 27.2 cuts/min (up to 30.3 if two uncertain changes are cuts); 34.8 picture changes/min including UI steps; 2.09 s average, 1.37 s median shot |
| Script | No reliable spoken script. Short on-screen promise, contextual queries and UI responses, then URL. The five detected transcript words appear to be false positives (inferred from the sheets). |
| Voice | None verified; no presenter or narrator visible. |
| On screen | Roughly 25% dark live-action hand/trackpad/lamp imagery, 15% clean floating prompt graphics, 60% product UI and response close-ups (estimated from the storyboard). |
| Captions | No subtitles. One large white sentence over the lamp; smaller UI labels and realistic input text carry the explanation. |
| Sound | Quiet start, then a tonal/music-like bed measured around −23.5 dBFS from about 0:12–0:37; no clear cut-synced effects. −20 LUFS integrated, −3 dBFS true peak. |
| Structure | Touch → brand/feature promise → three context demonstrations → simple web-address end card. |
