Field notes / why it works

The quiet room-wide opening makes the robot a discovery, and the face close-up at 0:02.4 gives it an immediate identity. The film then proves range through sofa work at 0:11.7, laundry at 0:24.1, toy pickup at 0:45.7, and bed making at 0:54.3, using close contact shots beside wider results. Twenty-six shots over 76.7 seconds keep the task sequence moving, while two near-eight-second holds let intricate fabric manipulation read clearly.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A small home robot appears in an ordinary living room, then proves its usefulness by tidying a sofa, handling laundry and toys, and making a bed. The film makes its launch promise through actions rather than speech or captions: each new room opens a fresh question about what the machine can do.

Why it works

  • The 0:00 wide shot asks viewers to spot the robot in a real home; the 0:02.4 face close-up resolves that discovery before the first task.
  • The capability range expands at 0:11.7 (cushions), 0:24.1 (laundry), 0:45.7 (toys), and 0:54.3 (bed), so the 76.7-second film keeps offering fresh proof.
  • Wide views establish the result and close shots show contact with fabric or objects. The 26 shots average 2.95 seconds, quick enough to condense several chores while allowing the action to read.
