Factory 2.0: From Workflow Map to Live Dashboard
A silent product launch film that races through an industrial workflow metaphor before slowing down to show the dashboard.
Field notes / why it works
The opening maps input to output over a machine image, then switches contrast three times by 0:03, making the abstract proposition instantly visible. Eight workflow cards flash at about 0.3 seconds each around 0:07–0:09.5, before a 13.77-second dashboard shot from 0:13 gives the product claim room to be checked. The small logo card at 0:26.7 provides a clean finish after the dense UI.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A machine diagram gives an abstract software promise a physical metaphor. A burst of huge type names the system's stages, then a real product dashboard supplies proof and a small end card signs it. The post frames the release as a move from agents toward a larger software production system; the film itself makes that shift visually.
Why it works
- The first frame already shows the whole input-to-output chain; alternating dark, white, and gray diagram treatments in 0:00–0:03 create a pattern interrupt without requiring narration.
- At 0:07.2–0:09.3, eight successive process words each get roughly 0.3 s and near full-frame type; the pace makes a complex workflow feel like one accelerating sequence.
- At 0:13–0:26.7, the cut rate drops to a dashboard hold with five internal changes, giving viewers time to inspect metrics after the typography burst.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9 · 1280×720 · 29.8 s · 30 fps |
| Pace | 26 shots, 25 cuts, 50.3 cuts/min; 5 internal changes, 60.3 picture changes/min overall. Mean shot 1.15 s; median 0.5 s; longest 13.77 s. |
| Script | No spoken words. Two text propositions, eight stage labels, UI labels and numbers, end logo. |
| Voice | None. The film must work muted. |
| On screen | Designed motion graphics and typography for ~13 s; dashboard UI for ~13.8 s; logo end card for ~3.1 s. No people. |
| Captions | None; all words are integral headline, diagram, or UI text. |
| Sound | Music-led, approximately 80 BPM by rough measurement; no clear cut-linked effects. −15.4 LUFS integrated measured; +1.5 dBFS true peak measured. |
| Structure | Machine metaphor → product proposition → stage barrage → second promise → dashboard proof → brand close. No separate spoken CTA. |
