A Brand Spec Becomes a Motion Plan
A product launch film turns a static spec into video direction through typed text, UI proof, and a final two-card comparison.
Field notes / why it works
A four-second silent filename edit establishes the old-to-new transformation before the narrator starts. The film makes the old format's failure visible from 0:07 to 0:26, then shows an input-to-output UI flow at 0:33–0:42 and a source phrase becoming a scene plan at 0:42–0:48. A two-card comparison at 0:52–0:59 distills the benefit into a visual rule viewers can recall.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A landscape product launch film begins with a nearly blank typing canvas, explains how an old instruction format gives the wrong output, and shows a new format converting the same source material into a usable result. The payoff is a simple side-by-side distinction: one artifact describes the identity; the other directs what happens in time.
Why it works
- A cursor and a familiar file-like title make the first 3 seconds readable without narration; the voice waits until 0:04.
- The problem is made visible through mismatched outputs: presentation and interface imagery around 0:07–0:18, then timing, movement, and scale questions at 0:19–0:26.
- The claim becomes a workflow at 0:29–0:48: a spec is pasted into a UI, generated direction appears, and a written paragraph becomes a scene plan. The 0:52–0:59 split comparison makes the distinction memorable.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9, 1280×720 · 61.4 s at 30 fps |
| Pace | 7 measured shots; 6 certain cuts, 5.9–8.8 cuts/min allowing uncertain changes; 15.6 picture changes/min including internal steps; mean shot 8.77 s |
| Script | 155 spoken words; 174 wpm overall, about 210 wpm while speaking; 14 sentences averaging 11.1 words; no spoken questions |
| Voice | Low-register, animated, assured product narrator; a brief medium-shot human presenter appears around 0:19 |
| On screen | About half the runtime is one changing motion-graphic canvas; then about 12 s of product UI, 7 s of highlighted spec text, 4 s of contrast card, and 8 s of diagram |
| Captions | Selective phrase captions: small white text on the product proof, then hot-pink rounded bars with white type and yellow emphasis; most information is designed into the scene rather than subtitled word by word |
| Sound | Continuous quiet tonal bed (music-like measurement, exact genre uncertain); voice dominant by measurement; no clear cut-synced SFX; -28.2 LUFS integrated, -11 dBFS true peak in source |
| Structure | File-name cold open → wrong result → missing motion instructions → product reveal → UI proof → spec-to-scene transformation → two-card payoff; no spoken CTA |
