The Founder Starter Kit
A comic founder launch film turns successive marketing gaps into four tangible asset reveals.
Field notes / why it works
The messy keyboard cold open makes the founder's false sense of completion legible before a giant rejection at 0:08. The film then replaces abstract feature claims with inspectable brand boards at 0:16–0:34, app and product examples at 0:36–0:52, and a bright founder-video transformation at 1:02–1:15. A new objection at 0:55 resets attention before the final availability card.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A lightly comic founder thinks finishing an app finishes the launch. An unseen assistant keeps naming the next missing marketing asset; each challenge opens a fast, designed proof sequence. The film sells a bundle by showing outputs in sequence, then resolves with an example founder video and a direct product URL.
Why it works
- The first 8 seconds establish a recognizable gap: frantic typing, a completed app, then an emphatic “Nope” over giant type at 0:08.
- The offer is a series of concrete transformations: brand system at 0:16–0:34, app screens and product sizzle at 0:36–0:52, founder video at 1:02–1:15. Each has a different visual treatment.
- The last objection at 0:55 restarts the story after a seeming finish; the answer becomes a polished example before the 1:20 end card.

| Reference | |
|---|---|
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 4:3 · 960×720 · 60 fps · 83.5 s |
| Pace | 38 shots, 37 certain cuts; 26.6–29.5 cuts/min allowing uncertain changes; 32.3 picture changes/min including eight internal steps; mean shot 2.2 s, median 1.83 s |
| Script | 66 recognized spoken words; 53 wpm over total runtime, about 215 wpm within detected speech; short dialogue bursts separated by long visual passages. Transcript is a rough automatic transcription. |
| Voice | Animated, conversational founder plus a dry, prompt-like assistant response (second voice inferred from the call-and-response presentation) |
| On screen | Roughly 40% live-action founder and close-ups, 45% designed cards and example assets, 15% interface and product imagery (estimated from sheets) |
| Captions | Selective tiny white dialogue subtitles plus oversized cream all-caps objections and directives; not continuous karaoke captions |
| Sound | Continuous music-like bed (inferred), speech bursts, no clearly measured effect tied to cuts; measured −9.7 LUFS integrated and +1.8 dBFS true peak |
| Structure | Founder setup → brand → app and product proof → founder video → toolkit/URL end card |
