Two Years of r1 Updates
A minimalist anniversary update roll call uses thin centered type, red glyphs, and two brief signal breaks.
Field notes / why it works
The 0:00 anniversary card gives the viewer a clear premise before the countdown and short update words begin around 0:02.2. After about 20 seconds of black-field typography, a 0.87-second color-bar flash interrupts the pattern; a second 0.87-second grayscale glitch sets up the 0:29.7 forward-looking closing line. The detector's six shots undercount visible word swaps inside the long type shots.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A nearly black anniversary card becomes a sparse, rhythmic roll call of product progress. Single words occupy the center, one character in the red accent, before two brief signal-break images interrupt the black field and a closing line says the work continues. The post copy carries the explicit product and purchase call to action; the film itself is an identity and momentum piece.
Why it works
- The opening title, “2 yrs of r1 updates,” states the anniversary and subject from 0:00; the same frame holds to about 0:02.2 before the word sequence starts.
- A strict black, white, and red type system makes the later color-bar break at 0:20.3 conspicuous after roughly 20 seconds of restraint.
- The closing “& we’re still building” at 0:29.7 turns the retrospective list into a forward-looking promise; the X post supplies the action to take.
