A Watch Through Every Version of Life
A monochrome, AI-made watch brand film links life vignettes through repeated wristwatch close-ups before a clean product reveal.
Field notes / why it works
The first three seconds use four cuts to turn a schoolyard confrontation into a question about the child's watch. Repeated watch inserts around 2.5, 8.5 and 17.7 seconds connect otherwise abrupt life scenes, while the 4.75-second park hold slows the film before the product frame at 31.7 seconds and final line at 32.8 seconds.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A 35-second, black-and-white miniature brand film follows an ordinary school-age protagonist, then jumps among other people, places and ages through repeated wristwatch close-ups. The story withholds a conventional product pitch until a clean watch packshot at 31.7 seconds and a sparse line at 32.8 seconds. The viewer reads time and personal change through the object rather than on-screen explanation.
Why it works
- The opening starts mid-conflict: one child is followed by three threatening schoolmates, and the first four cuts arrive by 3 seconds.
- The watch repeats at 2.5, 8.5 and 17.7 seconds, giving coherence to abrupt changes from street to aircraft, mountain, night outing and park.
- A fast first half (12 cuts in 10 seconds) relaxes into a long park wide shot from 26.9–31.7 seconds, clearing space for the white product frame and black end card.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9 · 1280×720 · 23.98 fps · 34.7 s |
| Pace | 30 detected shots, 29 cuts, 50.1 cuts/min; up to 60.5 if uncertain changes are cuts · mean shot 1.16 s, median 0.96 s |
| Script | 45 machine-transcribed words, 93 wpm overall, 114 wpm while speaking; automatic French transcript has several visibly nonsensical phrases and is unsuitable as a script source |
| Voice | Low-register, animated narrative voice (measured); precise age, accent and wording unverified |
| On screen | Nearly all live-action-style narrative footage; two final designed frames (packshot and end card) |
| Captions | None; only the final, widely tracked serif tagline |
| Sound | Continuous tonal music-like bed measured around −27.1 dBFS, approximately 5.1 dB under voice; no clear cut-synced effects; −17.7 LUFS integrated |
| Structure | School conflict → recurring object and life vignettes → reflective park hold → watch reveal → line; no in-video CTA |
