Push to Start: From Founder Myths to First Action
A 73-second Lovable launch film flips old startup gatekeeping into a colourful action cue, then backs it with founder outcomes and a product glimpse.
Field notes / why it works
A grainy START control and clipped barrier language establish a tactile question in the first 3 seconds. The film resets to stark white checklist cards at 0:16, then makes its decisive turn with huge saturated action type at 0:39–0:44. Three human and headline proof beats lead to an actual product control around 1:06, so the final invitation has a visible next step.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A short launch film dramatizes the old barriers to beginning, then reframes starting as an action available now. The engine is a visual reversal: black-and-white machinery and discouraging archival voices become near-empty white cards, saturated kinetic type, human examples, outcome headlines, a brief interface glimpse, and a clean logo.
Why it works
- The first 5 seconds pair a physical START control with dialogue about supposed prerequisites. The viewer gets the theme before the product appears.
- At 0:16.6–0:20.0, a rapid series of white cards isolates four familiar demands—capital, connections, team, luck—then the film visually rejects their weight. Ten cuts occur in the 0:15–0:20 window.
- The phrase “push to start” becomes literal at 0:38.9–0:43.5: a tiny key/control yields giant gradient typography. Product and outcome proof arrive at 0:52–1:09 before the 1:09.8 logo.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 1280×720, 16:9 · 73.5 s · 25 fps |
| Pace | 64 shots, 63 cuts, 51.4 cuts/min; 9 in-shot changes make 58.8 picture changes/min. Mean shot 1.15 s, median 0.86 s; longest 4.72 s. |
| Script | About 62 intelligible spoken words detected: 54 wpm across the full film, about 215 wpm within dialogue bursts. Transcript is low confidence in several archival clips; text carries most of the argument. |
| Voice | Several sampled archival/interview voices plus a final encouraging voice; conversational and imperfect, with long music-led gaps. No continuous narrator. |
| On screen | Roughly half designed type/white cards, a third archival/live-action collage, and the remainder macro object shots, news proof, and a brief product UI (visual estimate). |
| Captions | Small, centered white keywords over dark footage; small black Inter on white cards; giant saturated all-caps type for the turn. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal music bed with dialogue fragments; rough beat estimate 134 BPM, low confidence. Mix is music-forward at −8.9 LUFS measured. No clear repeated cut SFX. |
| Structure | Barrier montage → old-rule cards → cultural examples → “push” reversal → product/outcome proof → invitation to build → logo. |
