Expandable Action Dock
A silent square UI motion study turns a four-icon phone dock into an 11-action tray, then repeats the reveal.
Field notes / why it works
The compact four-icon dock establishes a clear before state at 0:00, and the brightening plus leads to a readable 11-action tray by about 1.25 seconds. Repeating the open/close cycle by 2.75 seconds gives viewers another chance to inspect the morph within an 8.23-second clip; the locked phone framing keeps attention on the control.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A silent, square product-motion specimen shows a floating phone dock changing from four navigation icons plus a round action button into a larger utility tray. The first reveal arrives around 1.0–1.25 seconds; the return and repeat invite the viewer to inspect the details.
Why it works
- The default dock is readable at 0.00 s, so the viewer understands the before state before the plus turns bright at 1.00 s.
- A single tap exposes 11 labelled actions by 1.25 s, giving the expansion a clear visual payoff without explanatory copy.
- The open/closed demonstration repeats within 8.2 seconds, letting the viewer catch the morph and inspect the tray. The post had 60,870 views and 1,358 likes when measured; those figures show interest but do not prove why it spread.
