Storybook peril becomes a logs product tour
An illustrated comic crisis turns into a long, concrete PostHog Logs UI walkthrough before returning to the story.
Field notes / why it works
The parchment title and painted fantasy world establish a distinctive genre before speech begins at 0:16. The predicted mishap accelerates into six cuts during 0:40–0:50, then a story-motivated switch at 0:48 makes the real product UI feel like a reveal. A 58.5-second demo shot stays useful through 16 marked internal changes, showing filters, log details, AI analysis, and linked session context before the story returns.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A mock old-storybook film follows an armored traveler and a horse through an absurdly specific danger. At the supposed moment of death (0:42–0:48), their “life flashing before their eyes” becomes a direct product UI walkthrough (0:48–1:46); the story resumes for a second comic payoff. The concrete product promise arrives late, around 0:59, after the narrative has earned attention.
Why it works
- The antique parchment title at 0:00 creates a genre expectation before any speech; an illustrated fantasy world replaces it around 0:08–0:10.
- The predicted accident escalates into fast cuts at 0:41–0:48, making the sudden switch to white software UI at 0:48 a motivated pattern interrupt.
- The long demo shot contains 16 marked internal changes and shows real controls: log chart, list, filters, raw details, AI analysis, and links to session context (0:48–1:46).
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 1280×720, 16:9 · 2:21.8 · 30 fps |
| Pace | 15 detected shots, 14 cuts; 5.9–7.2 cuts/min allowing three uncertain changes; 17.8 total picture changes/min; median shot 3.37 s, mean 9.45 s because the demo holds 58.5 s |
| Script | 316 spoken words; 156 wpm over full runtime, ~180 wpm while talking; 26 sentences averaging 12.2 words; five questions |
| Voice | One theatrical, animated, conversational storyteller; a second character is addressed but does not need a speaking role |
| On screen | ~one-third illustrated story/title, ~one-half software screen recording/composite, then illustrated story and UI composite; no talking head |
| Captions | Small white sentence subtitles in a near-black rounded lower-center box; one emphasized word can turn ochre/yellow |
| Sound | Continuous tonal/music-like bed, measured ~6 dB below speech; no clear repeated cut SFX; −14.0 LUFS integrated, −2.3 dBFS true peak |
| Structure | Title → danger setup → apparent catastrophe → memory/demo → farewell joke → false alarm; proof starts ~0:48; no explicit CTA |
