New Raycast black-glass teaser
A wordless product teaser that turns sparse dark UI vignettes into a delayed 2026 announcement.
Field notes / why it works
The first 5.7 seconds turn near-black texture into an oversized search field, with small in-shot changes at 1.0, 2.0 and 3.6 seconds that sustain attention without a cut. A sequence of concrete UI proofs from 5.7 to 28.3 seconds builds scope, then a 10.3-second near-black title sequence withholds the dated announcement until about 35 seconds. The consistent black-glass palette and tiny final typography make the reveal feel distinct from a standard feature tour.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A quiet, 16:9 product teaser starts with an abstract black surface, reveals a single oversized search control, then flashes through several interface abilities before retreating to a spare date announcement. The promise is implicit by about 0:04: a familiar workflow is becoming something larger; the explicit announcement is held until about 0:35.
Why it works
- The first recognizable object arrives at 0:01 after nearly a second of dark texture. The cursor and oversized search field offer a clear entry point without exposition.
- Seven shots across 38.5 s move from a hero control to small proofs: command UI, an emoji grid, voice input, an assistant prompt, integrations, and an update state (0:05.7–0:28.3).
- The edit spends its last 10.3 s on near-black title cards; “coming 2026” is withheld until roughly 0:35, making the date the payoff.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 1280×720, 16:9 · 38.5 s · 30 fps |
| Pace | 7 shots, 6 cuts, 9.3 cuts/min; 7 internal visual steps, 20.2 total picture changes/min; mean shot 5.51 s |
| Script | No intelligible spoken script. Machine transcription reads music as four words; treat that as an audio-recognition error. |
| Voice | None; no person appears. |
| On screen | 100% designed product UI and typography over abstract, dark surfaces. |
| Captions | None; interface copy and final microtype carry the message. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal, music-like bed measured around −13.1 LUFS overall; no clearly established cut effects. |
| Structure | Abstract hook → hero search → proof montage → black title sequence → dated announcement. |
