Emotion Mismatch, Then a Model Reveal
A one-minute launch film uses a staged performance mismatch, alternating drama and monochrome explanation, then a delayed product reveal.
Field notes / why it works
The opening face change and question create a mystery by 1.5 seconds without a title card. A specific workplace scene occupies 4.5–30.6 seconds, then the edit alternates characters and a monochrome explainer in shorter 1.8–3.1 second shots before withholding the product name through a 2.8-second pause. The final 12.8 seconds give the claim a distinct, restrained visual finish.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A narrator asks a basic question about human expression over an uncanny black-and-white face change. A miniature workplace drama then shows why the wrong performance can damage a scene; a short thesis and product claim lead to an abstract monochrome end title. The sale comes from watching the same emotional problem in several framings before hearing the solution.
Why it works
- The opening withholds product context: a young face gives way to an older, professorial archetype by 1.5 seconds while the first question unfolds from 1.5–4.5 seconds.
- The 4.5–30.6 second example turns an abstract claim into a specific conflict: surveillance wide shot, tense seated actor, anxious gesture, then a confrontational line whose facial emotion appears out of place.
- At 30.6–47.8 seconds, six shots alternate the case-study actors with the monochrome explainer; at 47.9 seconds the product claim arrives after the problem has been demonstrated.

| Pace | 12 measured shots, 11 cuts (10.9/min); one uncertain change makes the upper estimate 11.9/min. 12 internal changes; about 22.8 picture changes/min. Mean shot 5.05 s, median 4.78 s. |
| Script | 118 measured spoken words; 122 wpm across full duration, about 167 wpm while speaking; 11 sentences, three questions. |
| Voice | Low-register, animated explanatory narrator; brief naturalistic acted dialogue. |
| On screen | Approx. 45% color workplace drama, 35% monochrome expert figure, 20% abstract black title sequence (estimated from the sheets). |
| Captions | No spoken-word subtitles. Only small diegetic camera labels and a restrained final wordmark. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal/cinematic bed (heuristic), close speech and dialogue; no clear cut-synchronized effects. Measured −14.2 LUFS integrated. |
