Field notes / why it works

The film opens inside a responsive search field and changes the picture by 0:02, making the viewer follow an action before the first cut at 0:04.9. Three black cards at roughly 0:08, 0:17, and 0:25 reset attention, then real UI actions prove each feature; 23 picture changes in 48.4 seconds keep the demos moving without narration.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A desktop product announcement starts inside the interface, then gives three small features their own black title card and working screen proof. It promises useful improvements through actual interaction rather than a narrator's claims. The payoff is a quiet closing line after the last shortcut works.

Why it works

  • The opening makes the viewer inspect a familiar UI immediately: a search field expands and a query changes between 0:00 and 0:04.9, with no logo intro.
  • Each named benefit has proof: focus mode at 0:08–0:17, a meeting window over work at 0:17–0:24.6, and shortcut settings plus a live shortcut at 0:24.6–0:41.5.
  • The repeated black cards reset attention at about 0:08, 0:17, and 0:25; 23 picture changes across 48.4 s keep the desktop footage moving.

Platform · aspect · lengthX · 1112 × 720, about 1.54:1 · 48.4 s · 24 fps
Pace16 shots, 15 cuts, 18.6 cuts/min; 8 changes within shots, 28.5 picture changes/min; mean shot 3.03 s, median 2.54 s
ScriptNo reliable narration; the main copy is three short feature cards and a final line. Automatic speech recognition produced 11 low-confidence, mismatched words, so spoken WPM is not a useful production target.
VoiceNo directed narrator; possible incidental audio in the recorded content is not the storytelling channel (inferred).
On screenAbout 74% desktop/app recording and 26% black type cards, calculated from the shot spans; no presenter or camera footage.
CaptionsNone. Interface labels, three white monospaced title cards, and compact shortcut-key overlays carry the message.
SoundContinuous tonal, music-like bed; estimated pulse 104 BPM, low confidence. Measured −9.3 LUFS integrated, +0.3 dBFS true peak. No clear cut-synced effects.
StructureSearch-action cold open → three named features with demos → quiet closing statement; no explicit CTA or loop.
