WHOOP Advanced Labs: From Hidden Signals to Action
A 30-second vertical launch film turns a giant health statistic into a fast science montage, then a measured product UI reveal.
Field notes / why it works
An enormous mint number and five cuts in the first three seconds make the claim immediately legible and visually surprising. The edit then slows from seven cuts in the first five seconds to longer UI passages, letting result cards, connected metrics, clinician review and an action plan build toward the product reveal around 25 seconds and CTA at 26.6 seconds.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A startling numeric claim appears as enormous mint type in a real city scene. Rapid, almost microscopic proof imagery turns the claim into a problem; a calm product interface then answers it, progressing from measurements to interpretation to an action. The last four seconds name the product and show one clear next step.
Why it works
- A huge animated number fills the first second, while the low narrator states the claim by 2.8 s. The claim is readable even with sound off.
- Seven cuts in the first five seconds move from city to science to a search screen; after 4.6 s the pace slows for readable product cards.
- The product payoff is staged in layers: biomarker cards around 8–11 s, connected health metrics around 11–16 s, clinician review and an action plan around 16–22 s, then a named product and CTA at 23–30 s.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 9:16 · 720×1280 · 30 fps · 30.0 s |
| Pace | 10 measured shots; 9 cuts, or 18–22 cuts/min with two uncertain opening changes; 28 picture changes/min; mean shot 3.0 s, median 0.85 s |
| Script | 74 spoken words; 151 wpm overall, about 184 wpm while speaking; 9 short sentences; 1 question |
| Voice | Low-register adult narrator, controlled but animated; direct product-announcement delivery |
| On screen | Approx. first 4.6 s city/science/search footage; remaining 25 s mostly composited product UI and end card (estimated from sheets) |
| Captions | Small white sans-serif sentence chunks in snug black rectangles, horizontally centered around 70–88% frame height |
| Sound | Continuous tonal, music-like bed measured; no clear repeated cut SFX; integrated −20.2 LUFS, true peak −0.5 dBFS |
| Structure | Numeric hook → hidden problem → capability → data layer → interpretation/action → brand → waitlist/upload CTA |
