A Score You Can Actually Use
A colorful animated feature launch makes a new language score tangible through four ascending character examples before revealing its location in the app.
Field notes / why it works
The first three seconds turn a familiar habit into a personal score question, then leave a measured 3.1-second pause before the definition. Four examples climb from 5 to 130 between 0:10 and 0:37, making the number mean progressively stronger real-world ability; the 0:37–0:42 phone reveal then shows exactly where to find it. A closing callback at 1:01 turns the explanation into an action viewers can take.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A playful animated host challenges an existing vanity measure in the first 3 seconds, then presents a more useful score. Four ascending numbers, each attached to a character and a real-life ability, make an abstract feature legible before a short UI demonstration and a closing instruction.
Why it works
- The opening turns a familiar streak into a question about the viewer's own score by 0:02.7; an animated symbol sequence fills the space before the feature explanation at 0:06.
- Four concrete examples rise from 5 to 29 to 80 to 130 between 0:10 and 0:37, giving the scale meaning through small language scenes.
- The UI appears at 0:37–0:42, after the examples create a reason to look for the feature. A standards and real-life-use explanation follows at 0:42–1:01, then the ending returns to the opening streak/score contrast.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9 · 70.0 s · 1280 × 720 · 23.99 fps |
| Pace | 7 measured shots; 5.1–6.0 cuts/min, with an uncertain change at 0:01; 9 internal graphic steps; 12.9 measured picture changes/min; mean shot 10.0 s, median 6.0 s |
| Script | 181 spoken words; 165 wpm overall, 223 wpm while speaking; 20 short sentences averaging 9.1 words; two questions; frequent second person |
| Voice | One animated, medium-register, conversational narrator; short acted character lines |
| On screen | Entirely flat 2D character and UI animation; host, four color-coded examples, then phone interface |
| Captions | Small bilingual dialogue subtitles during example scenes; feature labels and big score numerals do the explanatory work |
| Sound | Continuous tonal/music-like bed measured about 12.7 dB below voice; accents are not clearly tied to cuts; −16.9 LUFS integrated, −2.1 dBFS true peak |
| Structure | Contrast hook → definition → four-level ladder → UI location → interpretation and credibility → behavioral call to action |
