Comet’s Quiet Browser Launch
A 72-second browser launch film that moves from minimalist symbol animation to real interface tasks and a cinematic starfield close.
Field notes / why it works
The first 3 seconds make a tiny assembling mark the only movement on an ivory field, creating curiosity with no speech or text. Product proof replaces abstraction: a map task appears around 0:17.6 and an assistant works inside a chat app around 0:28.5–0:35. After the dense interface sequence, sparse type and a starfield provide a memorable 1:00–1:12 brand finish.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A restrained 16:9 launch film grows from an empty warm-white field and a tiny animated mark into a browser that performs concrete work. The central promise arrives first as sparse editorial text around 0:11–0:20, then becomes visible in a map task and an assistant acting inside a work app around 0:17–0:35. An atmospheric closing line and celestial logo lockup replace a conventional spoken call to action.
Why it works
- The first three seconds contain no cut or text: the mark assembles over near-white, giving a small motion cue room to command attention.
- The abstract promise gains proof: an assistant plans a map route at 0:17.6 and answers inside a chat app around 0:28.5–0:35.
- The film alternates density: near-empty cards at 0:36–0:48 and 1:00–1:12 give the detailed UI room to register.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 1280×720, 16:9 · 72.0 s at 25 fps |
| Pace | 6 detected shots, 5 cuts; 4.2–5.8 cuts/min including uncertain changes; 9.2 detected picture changes/min; average detected shot 12.0 s. Many animated changes inside long shots are visually distinct. |
| Script | 56 transcribed words, about 91 wpm across the film and 184 wpm while speaking; seven short detected sentences. The 0:23 “Music” token looks like a transcription artefact. |
| Voice | A brief, low-register interface/demo voice and speech within an embedded tech presentation; no continuous narrator. |
| On screen | Motion graphics and editorial type at the beginning and end; browser, map, work-app and video-player views in the middle. |
| Captions | No burned speech subtitles. Large, sparse claim cards and native interface text carry meaning. |
| Sound | Continuous tonal bed, roughly 129 BPM by a low-confidence estimate; no measured cut-hit pattern. −17.9 LUFS integrated. |
| Structure | Symbol → connection → life/work promise → product tasks → capability line → anywhere claim → starfield logo. No explicit spoken CTA. |
