A Dinner Problem Reveals Dia
A cinematic family-dinner story delays the browser reveal, then proves it through source tabs, a contextual answer and a served dish.
Field notes / why it works
A sweeping tablecloth and a 0.25-second first cut open with action before branding. The 0:16–0:35 dialogue stacks practical constraints as the edit reaches five to six cuts per five seconds; at 0:36 the browser becomes the answer, and 0:44–0:56 shows source tabs, a contextual response and food imagery before a served-dish payoff.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A warmly lit ensemble dinner scene turns into a browser launch film. Food preparation and rapid dialogue make a complicated request feel natural; only after the audience understands the burden does the film reveal that a context-aware browser can use already-open material to help. The promise becomes explicit around 0:36–0:40, then the interface supplies proof at 0:46–0:56.
Why it works
- 0:00–0:03: a tablecloth whips across frame, then settles on a character; motion hooks before any product pitch. First cut is at 0.25 s.
- 0:16–0:35: the group keeps adding food, allergy and theme constraints while the edit peaks at five to six cuts per five seconds. Each added requirement makes the future answer more valuable.
- 0:36–0:56: a character realizes the browser already has the necessary context, followed by a two-line product claim and visible tab selection, synthesized response and food imagery. The claim is supported by a demonstrated workflow.

|---|---|
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 1280×720, 16:9 · 77.8 s · 24 fps |
| Pace | 45 measured shots, 44 cuts; 34.0–40.1 cuts/min allowing uncertain changes; 41.7 picture changes/min including measured in-shot changes; mean 1.73 s, median 1.25 s |
| Script | 95 machine-transcribed words; 84 wpm over full runtime, 196 wpm in talking passages; short, often one-clause lines. Some food words in the transcript are unreliable. |
| Voice | Several conversational character voices: a warm medium-register storyteller, quick practical replies and a short final line. Global measured median pitch 161 Hz mixes speakers. |
| On screen | About two-thirds live-action kitchen/dinner scene and one-third filmed or composited interface, text cards and result images (inferred from sheet samples). |
| Captions | No dialogue captions. Only in-world interface text and two restrained white-on-black statements. |
| Sound | Tonal bed throughout; dialogue and likely kitchen room sound (inferred). No clear dedicated effect on every cut. Measured −17.8 LUFS, −2.6 dBFS true peak. |
| Structure | 7 beats: kinetic setting → task → mounting constraints → realization → interface proof → shared result → quiet tag. No explicit spoken CTA. |
