A 21-second chess lesson launch turns one animated board into a playful feature pitch through a close-to-wide reveal and timed character reactions.
Field notes / why it works
The new feature is stated in speech and small on-screen text within the first second, while oversized chess pieces instantly establish the subject. A close-to-wide expansion near 0:04.4 opens the scene, and 13 internal picture changes keep a single 21.1-second shot active. Two benefit questions at 0:08.3 and 0:11.1 give the character's visual jokes a clear sales arc before the invitation at 0:16.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A mildly deadpan animated character announces a surprising new lesson or feature while sitting inside a visual metaphor for it. The film starts close and slightly mysterious, opens into a bright wide tableau at about 0:04.4, then lets the character pitch two benefits before a direct invitation and a second-person closing line.
Why it works
- The feature promise arrives immediately in speech and white top-center text, visible by 0:00.25; the viewer knows the subject before the first scene expansion.
- One 21.1 s shot avoids visual resets, yet 13 internal changes, most between 0:07 and 0:19, keep the tableau active.
- The copy turns a plain launch into play: a literal prop joke at 0:06–0:08, a practical benefit at 0:08–0:11, a competitive fantasy at 0:11–0:14, and an invitation at 0:16.
