Diff Edits Win the Side-by-Side Race
A silent feature launch compares full-file rewrites with diff edits in matched editor windows and lets the faster result stay visible.
Field notes / why it works
The off/on toggles and two short headings make the comparison clear at 0:00, while matching page previews establish the same starting point. Both panes switch to code near 0:00.5; the diff side shows a completed page by about 0:09.8 and holds it while the full-file side is still editing at 0:17.8. That long, simultaneous proof makes the benefit visible without narration.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A silent, fixed split screen runs the same software task in two modes. The opening gives the viewer the comparison labels and identical starting states; the right side reaches a usable result around 0:09.4 while the left continues working through the 21.3 s clip.
Why it works
- The promise is visible at 0:00: an off/on toggle, “full-file updates” on the left, and “faster, more efficient” on the right.
- Matching page previews at 0:00–0:00.25 make the two sides feel like a fair test; both switch into code at roughly 0:00.5.
- The visual payoff arrives before halfway: the right panel returns to a finished page by about 0:09.4–0:09.8, while the left remains in code at 0:17.8.
