A car crosses a ballpoint portal
A silent GLSL artwork turns a solid 3D car into a red pen sketch and back through a moving portal.
Field notes / why it works
The first frame pairs a solid green car with red ballpoint strands and graph paper, making the visual puzzle immediately clear. A roughly 15-second continuous transformation rewards inspection; the front-on sketch at 0:15 and solid return at 0:22 complete the loop without words or sound.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A familiar 3D object appears to cross between a sunlit rendered world and a red ballpoint sketch on graph paper. The opening shows the result immediately; a slow camera move and flowing ink boundary make the viewer inspect how the two states connect. There is no explanation, type, voice, or audio track.
Why it works
- The opening frame already contains both realities: a solid green vehicle at center right, dense red pen strokes behind it, and a visible paper grid at left.
- One object anchors a continuous material puzzle for roughly 15 seconds before the first detected cut. Its silhouette remains recognizable after it becomes red line work by 0:11.2.
- The later 7-second sketch view and 2.15-second return to a solid vehicle provide a compact before/after/reversal payoff; frame motion rises from 50.4% to 72.7% across the five-second windows.
