Luminous Particle Toy in Motion
A silent WebGL particle study that morphs from a curl into sheets, a hollow ring, and a bright coil in one continuous shot.
Field notes / why it works
The opening curl sprouts a bright tendril by 0:00.75 and widens into a translucent shell by 0:02.75, so the effect is clear immediately. A single 34.3-second shot keeps changing silhouette, with a dark-centered ring around 0:17–0:19 and a compact bright coil by 0:30.5; crisp points beside velocity streaks make the motion readable even in still frames.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A glowing cloud of tiny blue, violet and white particles curls, opens into translucent sheets, briefly forms a ring, and recoalesces against a nearly black field. The post promises a visual experiment through the image itself: the viewer stays to see which shape the simulated material becomes next. The source post identifies WebGL, three.js and TypeScript, with motion blur approximated by stretching particles along their velocity in a vertex shader.
Why it works
- A dense spiral is already moving at 0:00; by 0:00.75 a filament protrudes right and by 0:02.75 the shell fills most of the frame. The opening demonstrates the effect immediately.
- Within one uncut 34.3-second view, the shape changes scale and topology: broad sheet around 0:06, tight ring around 0:17–0:19, and bright compact coil at 0:30.5.
- Thousands of cool colored flecks read as both surface and depth; sharp bright points and longer directional streaks make movement visible in a still frame.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 1256×720, about 16:9 · 34.3 s · 60 fps |
| Pace | 1 continuous shot; 0 confirmed cuts/min; 34.3 s shot. Detector flagged 2 certain picture changes (about 3.5/min) and 2 uncertain moments around 0:21.4–0:21.8; the sheets suggest changes within the simulation, not editorial cuts. |
| Script | No spoken script. Two isolated “You” transcript detections conflict with the silent audio measurement and have no apparent speaker; treat them as false positives. |
| Voice | None. |
| On screen | 100% procedural particle imagery; no presenter, product UI, captions, or logo visible. |
| Captions | None in the source. If adding an accessibility title outside the footage, use Inter or Space Mono; keep the animation itself text free. |
| Sound | No audible music or effects in the measured file (−70 LUFS integrated; no true peak reported). |
| Structure | Visual hook → expansion → curling/reversal → ring reveal → dispersal/reformation. No CTA visible. |
