Field notes / why it works

The opening holds one overhead product image for 3.92 seconds while the drawing on its display changes, turning the device itself into the hook. Stylus, reading and outdoor-use close-ups at 0:22–0:42 make the claims visible; the repeated benefit phrases at 1:16–1:24 refresh attention before the human payoff. Its 65 shots create movement while the 138-word narration leaves long stretches for picture and music.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A quiet, widescreen launch film introduces a paper-like computer through its effect on attention, then shows the device being drawn on, read and carried through daily life. It promises a calmer relationship with screens: a still botanical image begins the film, patient narration sets the idea, and close physical demonstrations make it credible.

Why it works

  • The first 3.92 seconds hold one overhead product image while a tiny botanical drawing changes within its display; the unfamiliar surface earns attention before the first cut.
  • The middle repeatedly pairs abstract claims with visible use: stylus and display at 0:23–0:39, outdoor reading at 0:57–1:04, then product and people at 1:24–1:44.
  • The closing benefit list starts at 1:16, after roughly 75 seconds of context. The film can accelerate through 65 shots while its narration stays spacious at 82 words per minute overall.
