The Screen Overload Countdown

A dark 3D character teaser turns notification overload into a visual crisis before two stark change cards and a delayed logo reveal.

Field notes / why it works

The nearly black room withholds the character until 2.5 seconds, then the device and rising alert counts around 7–9 seconds make the problem concrete. A close scrolling view at 14–16 seconds and a blue-lit reaction at 19–22 seconds escalate the feeling before the image clears to two sparse text cards at 25.8 and 29.2 seconds, then the logo at 33.5 seconds.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A short animated character film makes an abstract problem feel physical before offering a concise change statement. A lonely, blue-lit room, an accumulating screen burden, a surreal reaction, and two spare black title cards lead to a logo and countdown; the product itself stays mostly unseen.

Why it works

  • The first 2.45 seconds withhold context in a nearly black room; warm wall lamps and a tiny blue screen establish an uneasy question before the overhead reveal.
  • Attention escalates through increasingly personal views: room at 0:00, character and device at 0:06, rising alert counts near 0:07–0:09, close scrolling around 0:14–0:16, then a distressed reaction at 0:19–0:21.
  • The picture abruptly simplifies after roughly 0:22: white serif statements on black at 0:25.8 and 0:29.2, followed by the logo at 0:33.5. This gives the emotional montage a readable thesis.

Pace5 measured shot segments, 4 detected cuts, 6.6 cuts/min; 7 internal step changes; 18.3 total picture changes/min. Detection groups several scene changes within segments. Mean segment 7.22 s.
ScriptNo reliable spoken script. Two short end-card statements plus brand mark; post copy adds a one-week countdown.
VoiceNo intelligible narrator verified; measured Korean tokens have low confidence and likely reflect soundtrack (inferred).
On screenAbout 22 s stylized 3D character/room animation, then about 14 s black typography and logo.
CaptionsNo subtitles. Centered sentence-case serif message cards near the end.
SoundContinuous low, tonal bed at roughly −26.2 dBFS; music/effects carry the story. −18.2 LUFS integrated, −0.2 dBFS measured true peak.
StructureUnease → screen overload → reaction/rupture → two-line thesis → brand/countdown. Message appears after about 25 s; brand by 31–34 s.
