Captions for web: drag-in launch film
A 50-second browser-editor launch that turns a file import into a rapid carousel of visual feature proofs.
Field notes / why it works
The opening 0:00–0:03 drag-in action demonstrates the workflow before any exposition. A 25-shot carousel connects varied examples with the same dark-pill and mint-selection UI, while sparse purple reset cards at 0:14, 0:18, 0:26 and 0:32 restore readability before the 0:45–0:50 web payoff.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A horizontal, music-driven launch film starts with the familiar action of dragging a video file into a browser tool. It then proves the product through a cascade of very short visual examples: interface controls, transformations, subtitles and output formats, before naming the product and its web availability.
Why it works
- The first 3 seconds turn a file icon into an actual editing surface; no explanatory voice is needed.
- From 0:06 to 0:22, each new feature gets its own visual world, while the same dark pill and bright green selection treatment keep the montage legible.
- Simple chapter cards at 0:14.3, 0:18.4, 0:25.8 and 0:32.2 reset the pace before the 0:41.3–0:49.9 end sequence lands the product and browser message.
Plate 02 / Format card
| Platform · aspect · length | X · 16:9 · 1280 × 720 · 29.97 fps · 49.9 s |
| Pace | 25 measured shots; 24 cuts; 28.8–32.5 cuts/min including uncertain events; 36.1 picture changes/min; mean shot 2.0 s, median 1.27 s |
| Script | Primarily on-screen copy: short feature phrases and chapter cards. 33 detected spoken words in example footage; transcription is low confidence. |
| Voice | No guiding narrator. A few human voices belong to inserted source scenes, including a low-register conversational adult voice; no voice imitation is part of the format. |
| On screen | Approx. 40% product UI/composite, 30% example or stock footage, 30% typography/graphic cards (visual estimate). |
| Captions | Editable words as interface objects: white text on charcoal rounded pills, active word in mint green; later conventional white subtitles on a person. |
| Sound | Energetic electronic/pop-like music bed, estimated 144 BPM; source clip speech briefly audible; no reliable cut-by-cut effects detected. Integrated −7.4 LUFS, measured true peak +1.5 dBFS. |
| Structure | Import → make editing simple → examples of cleanup/effects → subtitles/languages → social/export formats → product and web payoff. |
