Serendipity Discovery Mode Walkthrough
A continuous web experience tour turns a saved-items grid into a soft-focus, choice-driven discovery space.
Field notes / why it works
The 0:04 click makes a clear transformation from a crowded library to a spacious discovery mode; short centered promises at 0:07 and 0:11 explain the emotional benefit before any item is shown. From 0:21 to 1:12, a fixed pair of controls and changing central artifacts make the interaction learnable while 36 in-interface picture changes provide movement without cuts.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A quiet, continuous desktop capture turns a dense saved-items board into an atmospheric discovery mode. A short question promises surprise by 0:07; a sequence of floating artifacts and repeated two-choice controls demonstrates the experience without narration. A compact invitation closes at 1:13.
Why it works
- The grid at 0:00 establishes what the user already owns; the click around 0:04 makes the new mode's entry legible.
- The blue-black blur at 0:07 and the manifesto at 0:11 change the emotional register before the demo starts at 0:16.
- The repeated centered item plus paired controls becomes a recognizable interaction by 0:38, while item types keep changing through 1:08.
