Polestar 4, Told Through Numbers
A silent 37-second product launch film that turns specifications into a stark black-and-white typography sequence.
Field notes / why it works
The opening builds a text-only promise for 6.6 seconds before the first cut, then a white 610 km card reverses the palette. Huge 40% and 80% figures at 0:13–0:14 create a fast scale change, while the 200 km/h reveal near 0:18 and denser spec sequence from 0:21–0:33 turn attention into product evidence.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A minimal, 4:5 product announcement tells a story entirely through text and numbers. A slow black opening promises a numerical tour; white spec cards and oversized numerals then accelerate, before a denser information sequence and a black product-name end card.
Why it works
- The opening delays the first cut until 6.6 seconds, letting a short sequence of sentence fragments establish the idea before the facts arrive.
- A calm 610 km range card around 0:07 is followed by huge 40% and 80% cards at 0:13–0:14; the sudden scale and pace change renew attention.
- The film alternates sparse claims with dense evidence: 200 km/h near 0:18, a spec table at 0:19, then wheels and seats within the 0:21–0:33 white sequence.
