A Smile Becomes a Brand System
A 90-second LG identity launch film turns an expressive mark into a full brand world through a timed application montage.
Field notes / why it works
The first six seconds use one moving red field and a staged text promise, withholding the brand until the expressive mark appears around 0:09. The middle proves the idea across lifestyle, UI and physical applications, then seven sub-second shots at 1:04–1:07 create a burst of range before a spacious nine-second identity close.
Plate 01 / The format in one breath
A silent, music-led brand identity reveal moves from an abstract colour world to a simple animated mark, then demonstrates that mark and its verbal idea across product, digital, packaging, retail, and lived moments. The viewer first gets a promise in small text around 0:02–0:03, sees the symbol around 0:09, and spends the second half watching the idea become a usable system.
Why it works
- The opening delays recognition: blurred red light and diagonal streaks fill the first 1.5 seconds, then a small white sentence builds across 0:01.5–0:03.1. The first cut waits until 0:06.2.
- The abstract premise becomes a concrete design device at 0:09–0:12, where a minimal face-like mark changes expression on pink and red fields.
- Proof broadens in stages: campaign images at 0:35–0:40, digital layouts at 0:45–1:03, then seven rapid applications at 1:04.1–1:07.4. The acceleration shows range before the final mark.
