Field notes / why it works

The gray opening makes the saturated color switch at 6.3 s feel like a payoff, while a brief colorful glimpse at 4.1 s withholds the full reveal. The camera rushes toward the character before a second figure appears around 10 s; clean white name and date cards from 13.4 s turn the spectacle into an announcement. The detector counted 25 cuts, though the sheets suggest some rapid apparent cuts are continuous camera motion.

Plate 01 / The format in one breath

A 3D character stands in a drained, gray flower field while a sung music hook plays. At roughly 6.3 s, the same character and setting turn intensely colorful; a rapid push toward the character hands off to a second figure, then a white logo and date card announce the release. The visual promise is an approaching transformation, with the practical announcement saved for the last three seconds.

Why it works

  • The grayscale opening establishes a visual problem instantly; the 6.3 s switch to green, blue, and rainbow hues supplies a legible payoff without explanation.
  • The first 3 s have only one measured cut, then 18 detected cuts from 5–10 s; the sudden speed increase makes the reveal feel bigger. Several detected cuts in the push-in may actually be continuous camera movement (inferred from the sheets).
  • The branded information arrives after the spectacle: logo at about 13.4 s and date at 15.6 s, each on a clean white field.
